Actress Rajshree


Born: 8 October 1944 
Rajshree is the daughter of acclaimed Indian filmmaker V. Shantaram and actress Jayshree, second wife of V. Shantaram. Her brother Kiran Shantaram was a former Sheriff of Mumbai.
Rajshree was launched by her father along with Jeetendra in the film Geet Gaya Patharon Ne.

She also starred in popular hits films like Brahmachari, Jaanwar and Shehnai. Naina, Brahmachari, Suhag Raat, Dil Ne Pukara, Gunahon Ka Devta, Mohabbat Zindagi Hai, Sagaai, Janwar, Do Dil, Ji Chahta Hai, Ghar Basake Dekho, Stree and Subah Ka Tara were some of her noted Bollywood films.
Her movie Brahmachari also bagged the Filmfare Best Movie Award in 1968. Shammi Kapoor was awarded the Filmfare Best Actor Award for the same movie.



Sehnai released in 1964 was directed by S. D. Narang featured Rajshree, Biswajeet, Nirupa Roy, Leela Chitnis, Johnny Walker Asit Sen and Iftekhar in pivotal roles.

Rajshree is still remembered for her outstanding performance and her appearance with the renowned Bollywood actors like Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor, Jeetendra, etc.
While shooting with Raj Kapoor in America for the film Around the World in 8 Dollars, she met American student Greg Chapman. The two married three years later in a Vedic, Hindu marriage ceremony in India, that lasted five days and was attended by 15,000 guests. She went with her husband to permanently live in America. They have one daughter.
She has been living in America for the last 30 years running a successful custom clothing business while still maintaining her interest in films. She was an assistant director on Hack-O-Lantern, Tainted Love and Monsoon and has done narration on a children’s video titled “Ashok By Any Other Name”.
Rajshree is still well-known all over India, and now all over the world, mainly due to her classic beauty, her dancing, and acting capabilities
