Neetu Singh
married Rishi Kapoor in 1980 and retired at the age of 21 when she was at the peak of her career and had
been nominated for a Filmfare award as Best Supporting Actress for Kaala
Patthar (1979). She, however, chose family over Bollywood success.
Neetu Singh
was born on 8th July 1958 in Delhi in a Punjabi Sikh family. Her parents are
Rajee Kaur and Darshan Singh. She lived in Shanti Building, Peddar Road, Bombay
and attended the Hill Grange High School on Peddar Road.
She started
her career as a child artist and did 70 films in a span of seven years.
Neetu

Suraj in 1966. She played Roopa in the 1966 movie Dus Lakh and a dual role in

lovingly, yet strictly, managing her career, she went from strength to
strength.
Her career
as a leading star began with Rickshawala (1972). A dance number in Yaadon ki
Baraat brought her immediate success. When she was 21, she had already done
over 20 films with the leading actors of her time. Neetu Singh did 11 films
with husband Rishi Kapoor and they continue to be one of the most adorable
Bollywood jodis of all times.
She went on

Jeetendra and Shatrughan Sinha.
Her hits
include Deewaar (1975), Adalat (1976), Dharam Veer (1977), Parvarish (1977),

(2009), the comedy drama Do Dooni Chaar (2010), the romance Jab Tak Hai Jaan
(2012), which rank among the highest-grossing Indian films, and the comedy
