Sarika Thakur was born on 5 December 1960 in Delhi, India. She is famous for performing in several bollywood films. She was last seen in 2013 film Club 60 as Dr. Sayra. She not worked only with commercial movies but also played important roles in parallel cinema. Once, she was considered as the most beautiful actress of the Bollywood industry.
Sarika has started her acting career as the child artist just at the age of 4. Her most notable and popular appearance as a child artist was in the 1967 musical superhit Hamraaz where she was seen as the daughter of Vimi named baby Saarika. Later She moved to better films with Rajshri Productions Geet Gaata Chal with Sachin, with whom she starred in many Hindi and Marathi films and is known to have had a brief affair.
From 1980's in her acting career she mostly appear as a westernized girl in the movies. She gave up her career after her marriage to Kamal Hassan and moved to Chennai with him during the peak of her career. Sarika Thakur has tied knot in 1988 to Kamal Haasan, who is an Indian film actor, screenwriter, director, producer, playback singer, choreographer and lyricist. They have two daughters Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. The couple got divorced in the year 2004. Their elder daughter Shruti Haasan is an Indian actress, singer and musician who works in the South Indian film industries and Bollywood. The second daughter Akshara Haasan is all set to enter the Bollywood industry.
In year 2000, she won the National Film Award for Best Costume Design for the film Hey Ram. She has starred as Sheetal Thadani in the movie Bheja Fry in 2006. Yudh was the fiction-based series, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Sarika in the main leads. This was the debut serial for Sarika. Yudh's creative director was Anurag Kashyap and Shoojit Sircar was a creative consultant. It has been directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and co-produced by Amitabh Bachchan's production company Saraswati Creations and Endemol India.
