Self-taught Brij Mohan Vyas came to Bombay in the early 1940s through his older brother, author and songwriter Bharat Vyas (1918-1982), and was a singer and actor in his Rajasthani play Ramu Chanana . He then starred in a number of films by Raj Kapoor , including the father of the actress Nargis in Barsaat (1949). Because of his great stature and his gesture Vyas was already occupied at the beginning of his career for roles of older persons.
