1.Bhakta Prahlada
This is the first Telugu full length talkie film, based on The Story of Narasimha and Prahlada in Hindu mythology. It is made by H. M. Reddy, a pioneer of the Indian film industry.
Ardeshir Irani was planning to make the first Indian talkie movie Alam Ara in Hindi in 1931. H. M. Reddy was assistant director for that film and made the first south Indian talkie in Telugu on the same sets. The very famous theater group in Andhra Pradesh, ‘Surabhi’ had various performances of the play ‘Bhakta Prahlada’, which was written by the great playwright and ‘Andhranataka Pitamaha’ Dharmavarapu Ramakrishnacharyulu. H. M. Reddy sought to cast them in film and brought the entire drama team to Bombay under the supervision of C.S.R. Anjaneyulu. In addition to reusing some dialogues and poems of the drama, H.M. Reddy made Chandala Kesavadasu to pen new songs. The great poet Kesavadasu, thus remains in the history of Telugu Cinema to have penned its first song.

2.Heer Ranjha (1932) is the first Punjabi feature film directed by A.R. Kardar, starring Anwari Begum and Rafiq Ghaznavi in title roles.It was first named as Hoor Punjab but then Kardar changed its name to Heer Ranjha. Rafiq Ghaznavi composed the music for the film.

Maya Machhindra is a 1932 Marathi/Hindi Black and White film, produced by Prabhat Films, directed by Shantaram Rajaram Vankudre. This film is based on Mani Shankar Trivedi's play Siddhasansar with music scored by Govindrao Tembe.
This film based on the Tantric legend about the guru Machhindranath (Tembe) and his disciple Gorakh (Master Vinayak) on the subject of 'maya' (belief in the illusory nature of worldly temptations). The guru appears to his student to have entered the kingdom of man-hating women, married the queen (Khote) and abandoned his commitment to celibacy and pure thoughts. Gorakh sets out to rescue him but the entire experience turns out to be an 'illusion' set up by the master.

He was popularly known as Govindrao Tembe (June 5, 1881 – October 9, 1955), was a harmonium player, stage actor, and music composer.He grew up in Kolhapur and became attached to music early in life. He was largely self-taught as an harmonium player. He has acknowledged the debt of Deval Club for his initial forays into Hindustani classical music. Tembe learnt his art from Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale and, although he never received direct guidance from Alladiya Khan of Jaipur Gharana, Tembe considered Khansaheb as his guru. He used to accompany Pt. Bhaskarbuwa Bakhale, and would also often perform solo, but later gave up harmonium for most part of his career. He composed music for the drama Manapman in 1910, and also for the first Marathi talkie Ayodhyecha Raja (1932). He also acted in both these productions. He was a personal friend of Late Yuvaraja of Mysore, HH Sri. Kanteerva Narasimha Raja Wadiyar. Prof. Tembe was part of a large entourage of Yuvaraja during his trip to Europe in 1939. The Troupe performed before the Pope and at other places during this trip. As World war broke out, they stayed at London for a long time and ultimately returned in Jan 1940 but Yuvaraja died soon at his Palace Anchorage (next to Hotel Taj) in March 1940 and Prof. Tembe lost his patron. He was part-owner of Gandharva Natak Mandali when it was formed in 1913. Two years later, he started his own company named Shivraj Natak Mandali. He wrote dramas and also the padas (songs) in them.
Baburao Pendharkar
Baburao Pendharkar (1896–1967), was an Indian actor, director, film producer and writer.Baburao Pendharkar was born in Kolhapur. Born to Radhabai and her patron Dr Gopal Pendharkar, Baburao was related to quite a few film personalities in Indian film industry. His younger brother Bhalji Pendharkar was a famous film Director, Producer and Writer. Other famous names in family included half-brother Master Vinayak Radhabai's son after she married Shri Karnataki, cousin V Shantaram, son of Kamalabai, Radhabai's younger sister. Baburao started his career in the era of silent films
Master Vinayak
Vinayak Damodar Karnataki (19 January 1906 – 19 August 1947) commonly referred to as Master Vinayak was an Indian actor and film director from the 1930s and 1940s. Master Vinayak was Born in Kolhapur, Maharashtra, India. He married Sushila,. the couple's children are the late actress Nanda and film producer/director, Jayaprakash Karnataki. Master Vinayak was related to many personalities in the Indian film industry. His brother Vasudev Karnataki became a cinematographer while his half-brother Baburao Pendharkar (1896–1967) became an acclaimed actor. He was maternal cousin of legendary film director V.Shantaram. Master Vinayak was a good friend of the Mangeshkar family and introduced Lata Mangeshkar to the film industry in his movie Pahilee Mangalagaur. He co-founded Huns picture in 1936.Amongst his work, he is best remembered for the 1938 Marathi film Brahmachari. It was considered controversial for having the leading lady (played by Meenakshi Shirodkar) in a bathing suit.Vinayak died in Mumbai in 1947.
